Franklin County Services

In July 2006, Elder Care Services, Inc. became the lead agency for services for seniors in Franklin County.  The Area Agency on Aging for North Florida, Inc. awarded ECS the contracts to provide In-Home Services, Senior Lunch Bunch and Meals on Wheels in Franklin County.

By reducing overhead and administrative cost, more funds became available for services.  Local matching funds were provided by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, City of Carrabelle, City of Apalachicola, civic groups and individuals.  The Area Agency on Aging donated the use of the former Garden Club house in Carrabelle for office space and a congregate meal site.  A second congregate meal site is available at the National Guard Armory in Apalachicola.

Over the past year, Elder Care Services of Franklin County provided:

• 24,000 Meals on Wheels to 185 homebound seniors
• 2,824 congregate meals at two sites
• 3,260 trips to congregate sites, grocery shopping and other essential errands
• 6,000 hours of in-home services, such as home making, personal care and care management to 240 individuals
