S.T.A.R.S. Transportation

In a recent survey, seniors said transportation is one of their greatest needs. S.T.A.R.S. (Seniors Transporting At Risk Seniors) is key to the well-being of many seniors who can no longer drive or cannot afford or tolerate public transportation.

S.T.A.R.S. are active seniors who provide friendly transportation to medical appointments, pharmacy, grocery shopping, essential errands, and other vital services that help at-risk seniors remain independent. Senior Volunteers willing to serve are provided with additional automobile liability insurance

Please call our Information and Referral counselor, 7 days before the appointment, to make arrangements.

Faced with the choice, most seniors would choose to live in their own home; and through the assistance provided by the S.T.A.R.S. Program many are able to do just that. Many times the assistance needed is as simple as having a ride to buy groceries.

Currently there is a tremendous need for volunteers, regardless of age, willing to provide transportation to seniors. Hours are flexible. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Julie Prevatt at (850) 921-5554 or prevattj@ecsbigbend.org or apply online to become a volunteer:
